Proposition 12 Goes into Full Effect as of January 1st, 2024.
Find out more about what this means for farm animals below……
Happy New Year friends! I am thrilled to share great news and a positive start for 2024 for farm animals in the state of California!!
California’s Proposition 12, went into effect and was implemented.
It sets higher standards of better treatment of farm animals and establishes minimum requirements on farmers to provide space to breeding pigs, egg-laying hens, and calves that are raised for veal. Proposition 12 sets out minimum standards for the meat and egg industry and is considered the strongest law for the protection of farm animals. The law is a victory and a win for farm animals for banning the practice of extreme confinement of farmed animals. The law requires that mother pigs, hens used for eggs and calves raised for veal in California be given at least enough space to stand up, turn around and extend their limbs.
I know for most of us it is unthinkable to think of innocent farm animals left to suffer, be kept confined and then used for human consumption. Unfortunately, this is still the sad reality for many innocent souls. But it’s a step forward for a better future. Let’s celebrate this win for farm animals and the advances for the animal rights movement. It’s a step forward toward a more humane and compassionate world. I look forward to the day when every animal can live peacefully without suffering. For now, we can celebrate the milestones and continue to be the voice for animals everywhere!!
Congratulations California for taking this positive step forward for farm animals and inspiring change in other states and countries.
