How to be Kind to Animals: GO VEGAN

May is known as “Be Kind to ANIMALS.”

We should be kind to animals every day but this occasion allows awareness! One way to be kind to animals is by going vegan! By embracing a vegan lifestyle and making food choices that include compassion over cruelty and consideration for the suffering of innocent animals killed for food and dairy, you are making a positive impact on animal rights and showing kindness. It is also a great decision for both your health and the environment. By cutting out animal products from your diet, you can reduce your carbon footprint; lower your risk of chronic diseases, and save countless animals from suffering in factory farms. There are many delicious plant-based alternatives available that can make the transition to a vegan lifestyle easier and more enjoyable. Give it a try and see the positive impact it can have on your life and the world around you. Here are some simple tips for you in making the transition to a vegan lifestyle:

  1. Be Kind to Yourself: Take time to educate yourself and transition slowly to vegan foods. It’s easier nowadays with so many delicious vegan foods on the market and restaurants to choose from. You can dabble in vegan cooking trying a few recipes or check out local restaurants in your area. It might take some time and a transition from vegetarian to vegan or not! It’s an individual experience. You might choose to embrace veganism fully and eliminate all animal products or pick a few days a week. I say be kind to yourself because it’s a journey that you are embarking on and should be proud of! It’s not easy to be a vegan in a non-vegan world but the good news is that more people are going vegan and there’s no sign that vegans are going anywhere.
  2. Learn about the Health Benefits: You have to be convinced that going vegan is better for you so educate yourself about the health benefits and production of animal products. Find your reasons for going vegan. Talk to other vegans and vegan communities or organizations in your area. There are many of us out there.
  3. Fuel your Body with Plant-based foods: When I first became vegan, I started to read ingredients. I looked for unprocessed foods at the market and eventually started to gravitate towards the fresh fruit and vegetable aisle and selected whole foods. I felt so much better and more energized and started swapping dairy for non-dairy.
  4. Educate Yourself: You can find so much information online, and on documentaries. You can check other websites and blogs. They can offer insights, and support, and might help you to feel inspired and part of a community.
  5. Feel Good about Your Choices: Most of us love animals and don’t want to harm them. It’s easy to forget about the suffering of animals when we are bombarded with fast food and animal products. Remember, it’s a habit and can take some time to change. But I promise it’s worth it when you make the switch. You won’t regret it.

In my book, A Voice for Animals, I dedicate two chapters to veganism. I share my journey to becoming a vegan and I offer helpful suggestions. Are you thinking of making the switch? If so, please share your journey and personal experience. Leave your comments. I’d love to hear from you.
